Fall Prevention Month Website is live!

Posted August 11, 2016

There is a newly designed Fall Prevention Month website, which is available now in English and will be available in French in a few weeks. Check it out for information and ideas so your organization can implement a fall prevention initiative in November 2016.

Key Features of the Website:

Toolkit

There is a free Toolkit available for download, which includes promotional materials, a sample media release, statistics & inforgraphics, and fall prevention resources to support organizations, groups and practitioners. Using the resources in the Toolkit, we encourage all organizations to plan at least one fall prevention initiative during the month of November. Initiatives can be big or small. Launch a social media campaign, host a webinar, run an exercise class, do staff training, hang posters, offer home safety checks, evaluate your current fall prevention policies and practices – everything helps!

If your organization has produced a fall prevention resource or run a successful activity, we would love to add it to the Toolkit. We’re looking for resources that are evidence-informed and open to being shared widely. All the material submitted will be reviewed and passed through a decision aid. Submit your resource through this form on the website.

Initiatives

You can browse list of events and initiatives that will take place across Ontario and beyond during Fall Prevention Month. Organizations can submit their own initiatives to be included on the website. This is a great opportunity for a little extra promotion!

Information for older adults

The website also includes information and resources for older adults, family members and caregivers on how to prevent falls and injuries from falls, plus a link to Finding Balance Canada.
