This isn’t my first time at being an Information Specialist (IS). This isn’t even the first time I have been the Fall Prevention CoP IS! In my former career, before going back to school for the Social Service Worker – Gerontology program at Seneca College, I was an Information Specialist for SHKN (Seniors Health Knowledge Network). It was then and through SHKN, that I was the IS for the SHKN Fall Prevention CoP in the group’s very beginnings. I worked mainly out of my home office, in Whitby, Ontario, but was officially based out of the Baycrest Staff Library in Toronto. I enjoyed that job immensely. I had great colleagues, (one of whom was Lindsay Olgivie, the former IS for this CoP), enjoyed the work and library atmosphere, and had pride in knowing I was assisting front line workers and management, in assisting Seniors live the best lives they could. I felt learning more about Gerontology and the Social Work field would be a perfect match to my Library and Information Technology Diploma and experience. (I also have a History degree to boot!) I jumped at the opportunity to work with this amazing group again when the opportunity presented itself and know I will love my job immensely again!

As the IS for the Fall Prevention CoP, I assist Loop members with their information and library needs. Literature Searches, locating and delivering full-text articles, providing evidence based reference services, article dissemination and project assistance are all services I can provide through this role. If there is anything else I can assist you with, not mentioned previously, please let me know!
