Falls algorithms for persons with cognitive impairments

Posted October 26, 2016

Do you have a “Fall Prevention for Older Adults Algorithm” that you are using in your Long Term Care Home or Community settings for persons with dementia or cognitive impairments?

A research subgroup of the Ontario Neurotrama Foundation (ONF), is interested in learning about what fall prevention algorithms are being used in the LTC or in the community setting, for persons with cognitive impairments. We realize that most fall prevention algorithms focus on cognitively healthy older adults in various settings. We are interested in seeing what you are using and how well it is working in your organization for the population of older adults with cognitive problems. We hope to develop a research question which will explore the similarities and differences in fall prevention pathways for cognitively healthy and impaired older adults.
