Falls Prevention Community Program

Posted April 3, 2017

I am looking to start a 6-8 week falls prevention education/exercise program in the community for mild to moderate falls risk seniors. It would be based on, if not the same, as the SteppingOn (http://www.steppingon.com/) program or Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance (http://public.health.oregon.gov/PreventionWellness/SafeLiving/FallPrevention/Pages/TaiChi.aspx) that has been trialed through clinical trials as evidence-based.

Ideally, the program would run 1-2x/week and incorporate both an exercise and education portion. The goal would be to provide seniors with the knowledge of falls prevention, and to encourage daily exercise as part of their regular routines.

Has anyone started any program like this in their community, and if so, have any pointers or tips?
