Helping older adults access transportation services like Uber without a smartphone

Posted April 18, 2017

On demand transportation services like Uber are extremely popular in urban centres and are even being adopted by rural municipalities in lieu of public transit. A major barrier for older adults accessing this service is that a smartphone or tablet is required to run the app. I stumbled upon a service that allows older adults to book an Uber by phone. The service also monitors the trip to make sure the older adult gets where they need to go and can send updates/alerts to caregivers as well. It is available in Canada and the US.
