Accurate data on injuries and deaths from falls in dwellings
Posted June 20, 2017
I'm wondering if anyone else is concerned by statistics on injuries and deaths in dwellings that may not accurately identify: all precipitating factors, exact location inside/outside of the dwelling where it happened, pertinent details of trauma sustained, and costs associated (health-care costs, lost productivity by the affected individual, and lost quality of life & independence by the affected individual). The PHAC stated 2 billion dollars per year in health care costs for falls of seniors (Apr 2016) but I'm interested are far more specific statistical and evidence-based data. Our demographics and strong support for Aging in Place seem to support a more open dialogue on the above information.
