Until next time! (and welcome Cristina)
Posted July 28, 2017
As some of you already know, today is my last day in my current role of Project Co-ordinator, Prevention at the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. For the last four years I have supported the Fall Prevention Community of Practice, Fall Prevention Month and other injury prevention programs at the Foundation. Together we have accomplished so much! We developed Loop and helped it grow into a thriving community of friends and colleagues with a common passion and goal. I have enjoyed building relationships with many of you and hearing about the exciting work in fall prevention you are undertaking.
I am leaving to pursue a Masters degree in Urban Planning at Ryerson University in Toronto. The built environment has a huge impact on the health of populations and can certainly affect injury rates. The momentum of Age Friendly Communities initiatives across Canada demonstrates the value of collaboration between the health and planning fields. You'll probably see me on Loop in the future, sharing relevant information about planning and urban design.
Loop is in great hands with our newest team member: Cristina Cicco. Cristina has worked in the public health sector for over 10 years and brings her skill set in project coordination, communications and technology to her new role as the ONF Project Co-ordinator, Prevention.
Most recently with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, Cristina completed a three-year project to plan, develop and implement a new assessment process for internationally-educated dietitians. Previous to that project she oversaw the website for EatRight Ontario, and planned and implemented several other projects for the health promotion service. Cristina also worked as a Communications Co-ordinator for the Specialty Food Shop at the Hospital for Sick Children. She completed her Master of Health Science at Ryerson University and has been a Course Instructor at Ryerson University, Humber College and George Brown College.
Cristina started her orientation at ONF on July 17 and you may already have seen her name pop up on Loop and other communications. Welcome Cristina!
I don't doubt that I will work with many of you again in the future. Until next time; keep up the great work!
