Bed Alarms

In our LTC settings we have been using bed alarms but have had some falls with injury because the alarm was not working or staff were not able to get there before the fall occurred. My questions to others are:

How do you decide who should be using a bed alarm?

Are there specific assessements used to determine this?

What other strategies need to be employed with a bed alarm? I have read some articles saying the rounding is needed.
