Socks or bare feet what is better

I work in a rehab hospital. My question is about foot ware- Should a patient or resident be put into bed with no socks on if they are an idependent ambulator but forget to put shoes on and a Fall risk? Socks are slippery on the hospital floor, for those who forget to put shoes on is it better to have no socks on?
