Infant falls (or drops)

Hi Falls CoP

At BC Women's Hospital we have been actively problem solving the prevention of infant falls or drops. Acknowledging that some will still occur we are also looking at the range of harm reduction strategies for when a drop does occur. This is particularly an issue with our postpartum population affected by perinatal substance use, where most infant falls are due to bed-sharing scenarios when the parent falls asleep unexpectedly with the infant in their arms. We have developed a risk assessment tool which now requires validation. I am wondering if anyone else out in the Falls CoP is also working on this issue??
