Autumn Leaves - A Falls Risk
Posted Le 22 septembre 2016
While I rummaging around the internet, looking for something totally unrelated, I stumbled on this advertisement/article written by a law firm in Philadelphia, PA. (http://phillyslipandfallguys.com/dangers-of-autumn-leaves/)
The title says it all - "Autumn Leaves Can Be A Dangerous Falls Risk". The advertisement/article is written to drum up business for slip and fall clientele, but it also contains some good information about the hazards of fall leaves.
Autumn is a beautiful season; but equally dangerous. We all appreciate the beauty around us during the autumn season from the colorful leaves to the pumpkin-spiced fragrances, it is undeniably splendid. However, it is a season that can be fraught with danger as the chances of falling are heightened. Fallen leaves obscure slip risks on the ground. Wet leaves create slippery, dangerous surfaces without grip that make slipping and falling more likely.
This fall, as the leaves are falling beautifully on your sideway or walkway, beware of the potential dangers and remove the hazard. Prevention is the best medicine, as the old saying goes! Stop the fall before it happens!
Even though this article is American, the same aspects apply towards the dangers of autumn leaves. Has anyone come across a local, provincial or national advertisement/article similar to this one? Let me know!
Maybe we won't look at leaves the same way again!
