The Loop's new Knowledge Broker's Introduction
Posted Le 25 mai 2018
Hello all!
I'd like to introduce myself as the new Knowledge Broker for the Fall Prevention Community of Practice Loop Knowledge Centre https://www.fallsloop.com/services/knowledge-centre. I am offering my skills, experience and passion for finding and summarizing research, evidence, resources and making connections to help you and all in the Loop community.
Before coming into the consulting world, I worked for more than 25 years at Health Nexus (before 2008 known as Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse) in different positions as health promotion consultant, health information specialist and knowledge management developer. In 2004 I went back to school for my Master's in Information studies (library science and knowledge management), and returned to work on the Canadian Health Network's Health Promotion Affiliate until it ended in 2008. Then I was seconded for several years with PHAC's Canadian Best Practices Portal where I honed my experiences as knowledge broker evaluating practices, researching highest quality evidence and selecting best and innovative practices, including the injury and fall prevention section.
In my last role with Health Nexus until late 2016, I was the Knowledge Exchange Specialist in which I coordinated the virtual resource centre, set up evidence-based practices, knowledge sharing and evaluation frameworks for the consortium of 14 health promotion resource centres (like the Ontario Injury Prevention Resource Centre) and national health promotion networks. Now I'm an independent consultant in knowledge and information mobilization.
At home I love my Toronto island community, volunteering in social and environmental events, cycling and hiking, and keeping actively involved in librarian and health information networks.
Please check out my Loop profile https://www.fallsloop.com/profile/13387 and the Knowledge Centre page https://www.fallsloop.com/services/knowledge-centre - you may use the intake form to send me an information request. I'm looking forward to working with you all.
Sincerely,
Alison Stirling, MISt, MHSc
