New Video and Study on Cognitive Impairment Increasing Risks of Falling and the Prevention of Falls
Posted Le 14 juin 2021
In this study, researchers from McMaster University, conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis and the results, based on moderate certainty of evidence, that suggest that fall prevention interventions, particularly physical exercise programs may be effective in reducing fall risk factors in community-dwelling older adults with cognitive impairment.
Older adults with cognitive impairment fall two to three times more than cognitively healthy adults and 60 to 80% of adults with cognitive impairment fall annually. Yet, there is limited evidence on what best practices, strategies, or interventions will help prevent or reduce falls in community-dwelling adults with cognitive impairment.
