Funding changes for fiscal year 2024/25 and impacts to Loop, Loop Junior and fallpreventionmonth.ca

Posted March 21, 2024

The Fall Prevention Program at Parachute will be on hiatus starting Apr. 1, 2024, due to program funding renewal not proceeding as anticipated.

Parachute’s leadership of the Fall Prevention Program began in June 2021 with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health to support the important work of Loop & Loop Junior, Fall Prevention Month and the Ontario Fall Prevention Collaborative. Parachute received notice that funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health would cease as of March 31, 2024. Parachute has been working to obtain transition funding to avoid any disruption to the team or the program. At this time, funding has not been secured for the 2024/25 fiscal year.

Until funding for the program can be secured, services offered by the program will be impacted in the following ways:

·       The Loop and Loop Junior websites will remain active and useable. Members can continue to network and share information and new members are still encouraged to join.

·       Loop and Loop Junior webinars will not be offered. Existing webinar recordings will still be available here: https://www.fallsloop.com/services/loop-webinars.

·       Loop and Loop Junior Knowledge Centre services (i.e., information consultations) will not be offered. Existing Evidence Summaries remain available here: https://www.fallsloop.com/knowledge-products

·       Loop and Loop Junior newsletters will not be offered.

·       The Fall Prevention Month website will remain active. New resources and materials for Fall Prevention Month 2024 will not be offered.

Parachute continues to work hard to secure funding and resume program operations. Please stay tuned for updates as work to secure funding continues.
